AN OFF-ROAD TRAVELLER
Long distance road legal dirt capable bikes are unusual machines, needing to find a balance between road and dirt capabilities without seriously comprising either. In the current marketplace, these dual sport bikes are mostly large capacity, heavily spec’d bikes or small 250cc, entry level bikes. However, the middle of the market is starting full out with the introduction of the new 2019 KTM 790 Adventure R. Built around the 799cc LC8c parallel twin engine from the KTM 790 DUKE, the 790 Adventure, also available in a more road centric model, has an aggressive design for off-roading loving adventure riders. The engine produces 70 kW (95 hp) that drives through a 6-speed sequential gearbox, with a long 15,000 km service interval, and thanks to a 20-litre fuel tank, the bike has a range of 450 km.
