UPDATED GPS + RADIO
Garmin have updated their Rino GPS rugged outdoors navigator. The unique feature of the Rino, that differentiates it from standard handheld GPS units, is a 5W FRS/GMRS two-way radio with a communication range of up to 32 km (20 miles). For 2016, the Rino has been updated with a new three-inch multi-touch display giving improved optical clarity, the 750 and 755t (loaded with road based mapping and includes a camera) also gets wireless connectivity, allowing Bluetooth sync with headsets or smartphones, and an Active Weather mode for weather forecasts and displaying a weather animated radar. Position reporting and text message communications, including emergency alerts, is available as a unit-to-unit feature with other Rino users. A dual battery system powers the device with either a lithium-ion rechargeable pack or four AA batteries.
