EXPEDITION: MYANMAR
Another week of travel videos on peragromoto. This time our theme is adventure and expeditions. The short film Down to Nothing documents a National Geographic and The North Face backed expedition. The expedition’s goal: to “summit an obscure peak in Myanmar (Hkakabo Razi) to determine if it is Southeast Asia’s highest point.” Background: a small, old-school style self-reliant expedition, just six people and a small mountain of climbing and camping gear, including cameras to document the journey. The resulting documentary: a fascinating insight into the determination, skill, and endurance required to undertake high altitude mountaineering expeditions in remote, less-developed parts of the world. And the documentary is an excellent example of cinematic, narrative-driven, compelling film making.
