BIGGER AND BETTER
The updated Honda NC750X comes with an additional 75cc of engine displacement over the 2013 NC700X, resulting in more power and torque, and along with a bunch of small improvements, pushes the bike out of the A2 licence category, thus positioning the three CB500s as Honda’s goto learner middle-weight road bikes. However, Honda still markets the NC750X as a “fun crossover commuter” for week day commuting and weekend touring. The key upgrade for the 2014 model is the added engine displacement and modifications that include, for example, twin balancer shafts “to counteract vibration from higher rpm inertia, making the engine feel more refined, yet still with the distinct “throb” delivered by its 270° firing order.” Taller transmission gearing and a new exhaust muffler design match the new engine power output. Other updates include new instrumentation, span-adjustable brake lever and 2-channel ABS.
