A NEW MONSTER
Sporting Ducati’s Testastretta 11° DS 1200cc engine attached to a minimalistic steel trellis frame via the cylinder heads, the new Monster carries the Ducati well liked ‘monster style’ forward into 2014 with a significant update to a classic bike. Its second generation L-Twin Testastretta engine produces 135 hp at 8,750 rpm, that is smoothly transferred to the rear wheel via a 6 speed transmission. A Ride-by-Wire system with three engine maps regulates power. Rear suspension is an engine mounted fully adjustable monostock working on a single-sided aluminum swingarm. Rider ergonomics follows Ducati’s “one-bike-in-the-garage” design parameters, with an emphasis on making the bike both accessible and versatile, allowing a broader range of uses including street based commuting and weekend touring.
