TEAM HRC DAKAR CRF 450 RALLY
With the 2013 Dakar Rally underway in South America over the next few weeks we’ll take the opportunity to look at a couple of the bikes running the dirt and sand tracks. Team HRC Dakar, the factory Honda entry, have been involved in the Dakar Rally since 1981, competing many times in the Paris-Dakar Rally prior to its shift to South America in 2009. For 2013 their factory riders are running a factory Dakar enhanced Honda based on the CRF 450X. Although the CRF 450 Rally machine has extensive modifications to make is race-ready, it’s largely based on the commercially available enduro model. Honda claim their race bike weighs under 150 kg, producing over 43 kw (58 hp) and can reach speeds in excess of 170 km/h.
